Science Olympiad
Georgia Science Olympiad (GASO) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to attract and retain the pool of K-12 students entering science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees and careers in Georgia.
Every year GASO hosts tournaments on university, college, and public school campuses across the state. These tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of different hands-on, interactive, challenging, and inquiry-based events that are balanced between various disciplines in biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and technology.
Graduation Honor Cord Criteria:
- Active team involvement for at least two years
- compete in at least one tournament during each of those years
- Volunteer at an elementary (Div A) or middle school (Div B) Science Olympiad tournament
- Mentor a Div A or Div B Science Olympiad team
- Represent the school's Science Olympiad team in a STEM-oriented, educational activity within the community
