Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college-level courses offered by trained high school teachers in the regular high school setting. Central High School offers students AP courses in English, math, science and social studies. The Georgia Department of Education awards AP honors to schools across the state. AP STEM schools are schools with students testing in at least two (2) AP math courses and two (2) AP science courses, such as AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics, or AP Computer Science.
AP STEM Achievement schools are schools with students testing in at least two (2) math courses and two AP science courses, and at least 40% of the exam scores on the AP math and AP science exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
Central High School has earned AP STEM Achievement honors 4 out of the last 5 years and has AP STEM 5 out of the last 5 years.
