Counselor Bio:

Education:

I hold a Specialist in Education, Processional Counseling, 2018, and a Master's of Education, Professional Counseling and Supervision, 2011, from the University of West Georgia. Prior to obtaining these degrees, I obtained a Bachelor's of Fine Arts from the University of West Georgia in 2007. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Experience:

I have worked as a school counselor since 2013. In addition to my experience as a school counselor, I have worked as a mental health therapist and assessment writer within the community and via telehealth services. I have also worked at the university level in student services for online academic programs. I enjoy working with adolescents and children; I also enjoy employing expressive and play therapy techniques within my counseling practice.

School Counselor Goals:

Support:

Provide individual, group and guidance support to all students within a solution-focused, creative, and collaborative context to support academic, career, and social development.

Communication:

Ensure open and appropriate communication with all students, parents, and staff, while facilitating an environment of safety and respect for all members of the school community.

Multiculturalism & Diversity:

Gain knowledge and perspectives of the entire school population and school community and employ vast resources in order to meet the needs of a diverse school community.

School Counselor's Commitment:

I am committed to supporting the academic, career, and social growth of students within an educational setting. My duties lie in identifying students in need of community supports, assisting students in attaining academic success and career readiness, as well as facilitating school-wide counseling programs meeting diverse student needs.
