My name is John Thompson, and I have been teaching mathematics and computer science here at Central High since 2019.  I firmly believe that mathematical and computational thinking practices hold the keys to empowering students in our increasingly technological society, and that they are an essential foundation for those who wish to be on the forefront of future technological advancement. 

Before teaching, I used to work as an IT professional.  Much of my time was spent training people how to use new technologies and how to adapt their business practices to leverage that technology.  It's fair to say that I grew enamoured with helping people achieve little technological "Eureka!" moments.  In time, I also rediscovered my childhood passion for all things math related, and it wasn't too long before I had a "Eureka!" moment of my own, and decided to pursue a teaching career.

I am deliriously married to my enchanting wife, Summer Thompson, and hopelessly cursed with the most wonderful daughter imaginable, Kaylee.  I mean, how am I supposed to get things done around the house with all those warm hugs and lilting giggles flitting about the place?  It's enough to drive a guy mad, I tell you!
