A MESSAGE from the Principal:
Welcome to the web page for Central High School. You should be able to discover just about any information you want to know about us at this site. Let us hear from you if you have comments, questions, or concerns. As principal of Central High School. I have set some goals that I want to accomplish with the help of parents, students, and staff. I want Central High School to be known primarily for the excellent academic program we offer. The faculty and staff are committed to improving the academic achievement of our students. We want every student at CHS to be challenged so that they achieve at the highest level possible. We have designed and are implementing a plan to help students improve their results on the Georgia High school Graduation Test as well as the ACT and SAT. We want to improve our graduation rate and prepare students for a successful career after graduation.
Another goal is to build an extracurricular program that complements our academic program to build character and responsibility in our students. Research shows that students who are involved in extracurricular activities make better grades and have fewer discipline problems. These programs teach young people many important lessons in life that will serve them well as adults: cooperation, responsibility, work ethic, time management, and self esteem earned from a job well done. Our sponsors and coaches of these activities are selfless in their dedication of time and effort to students involved.
These goals cannot be accomplished by the staff of CHS alone. We need the support of parents and community in our efforts. If your student knows that his/her education is important to you, it will be important to them. Call teachers, come to the school, visit your student at lunch, attend extracurricular activities - even if your student tries to discourage you. Be involved in your child's education! In addition to quality instruction and caring parenting, the student also bears responsibility for the education they receive at CHS. In 28 years as an educator and as a parent of two girls who graduated with honors from CHS, I can say with confidence that Central High School offers a quality education that compares well with the best schools anywhere. Students may obtain any type of education they choose at CHS. If they work hard and want to learn, they can achieve at the highest level at which
they are capable and use their education to ensure their future. If they refuse to work and expect little of themselves, they will achieve at a minimum level and enter the world unprepared for college or a career.I encourage all CHS students to set goals and high expectations for themselves. You can accomplish whatever you desire. The faculty and staff are here to assist and support you.
