Mr. Stanley Brewer

Stanley started all four years in basketball at Central.  As a sophomore in 1974,
Stanley guided the basketball team into the state playoffs and earned the team’s
most valuable player honors.  As a senior in 1976, Stanley led the team to a perfect
19-0 regular season and once again earned the team’s most valuable player award.
Upon graduation, Stanley started two years at Georgia Southern University, where
he won both the free-throw percentage and sportsmanship awards.  After his
sophomore year, Stanley returned to Carrollton to play at what was then
West Georgia College.  Stanley led West Georgia to a 23-5 record his junior year
and a 24-6 record his senior year, and in both years, West Georgia made it into the
NCAA Division II tournament.  Stanley was named West Georgia’s most valuable
player in both his junior and senior seasons, and he was West Georgia’s male athlete
of the year for 1980-81.  Stanley was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference team
both years at West Georgia.  Stanley was named the Most Outstanding Player in the
South Atlantic Championship, and Stanley won the Naismith Award as the small college
player of the year for the State of Georgia.  Finally, Stanley was drafted by the Houston Rockets
following his senior season at West Georgia.

 
 

Mr. Gayle Edwards

Mr Gayle Edwards graduated from CHS in 1967 and was a four sport letterman.
He lettered in football three years, and was Captain and earned All County honors.
Edwards lettered in basketball three years, he was Captain for the team and was
awarded Most Valuable Player his senior year.  He was a two-year letterman in baseball
and a one-year letterman in track, running the 100, 220, and the 440.  Not only did he
letter in four sports, but he also played the trumpet in Concert Band.  In his senior year,
Gayle Edwards was voted Mr. CHS, Senior Class President, and Prom King.  He and his wife
Patti have two sons, Kelly and Chris, both Central graduates.  They have been married for 39 years
and are proud grandparents of three grandchildren.



 
 

Mr. Chris Edwards

Chris Edwards graduated from CHS in 1987.  He was a three-year letterman in football
and captain of the 1986 State Championship Team.  He earned the Most Valuable Lineman
award and received All County honors for two years.  He was a North/South All Star
selection and an All State selection.  He was also a three-year letterman in baseball and
was captain on the 1986 State runner-up team and earned All County honors for two years.
Chris lettered one year in track.  Chris earned a football scholarship to the State University of
West Georgia.  He was a four-year letterman.  In his senior year he was Captain, earned
All Gulf South Conference, and received the Most Valuable Defensive Player.  Chris graduated
from West Georgia in 1992 with a degree in Education. He and his wife, Krysti Coleman Edwards,
have been married for 14 years.  They have two children; Jake and Julia.



 
 
 

Mr. Michael Jumper

Mr. Michael Jumper graduated from CHS in 1993.  In his freshmen year he earned
the Rookie of the Year Award for Marching season.  He was also on the Cross-Country
team as a long distance runner.  In his sophomore year, he was in the University of Georgia
Honor Band in Athens.  He also won the award for Most Valuable runner in both cross
country and track.  In his Junior he was a member of the All Carroll County Cross Country
team, Section leader in the marching band, and won the award for most Valuable Runner in
Cross country and track for the second year in a row.  In his senior year he was All Carroll
Country Champion in the mile, placed runner up in the two mile event, won both the CHS Faculty
Cup and the John Phillips Sousa band award.  He won the Most Valuable runner in cross country
and track for the third consecutive year, was section leader in the marching band, and was a member
of the All Carroll County Cross Country team.  After high school, Michael attended the State University
of West Georgia and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1998.
Michael is married and has three sons.
