Where: UWG Technology-enhanced Learning Center

College Goal Sunday is a one-day event to help students and families complete the application for financial aid for education beyond high school.

At College Goal Sunday , you can:

Get free on-site professional assistance filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.  Talk to financial aid professionals about financial aid resources and how to apply.  Get information regarding state-wide student services, admission requirements, and more! Our goal is to assist low-income college students throughout Georgia by providing free on-site professional assistance in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form to receive consideration for federal and/or state aid. The FAFSA is a federally required form for students seeking financial aid, such as grants and loans.

Start off your college career right! Talk with our experts this February!!

Ms. Monica Smith

Mrs. Monica Hining Smith is a 1994 graduate of the University of Georgia. She began her teaching career in August of 1994 at Lithia Springs High School in Douglas County, where she taught ninth grade English, World and British Literature, and served as the yearbook sponsor. Mrs. Smith transferred to Chapel Hill High School when it opened in 1999, teaching ninth grade English and serving as the English Department Chair. Mrs. Smith also obtained her gifted certification at this time. In addition to ninth grade, she taught twelfth grade British Literature and Honors eleventh grade Pacesetter English, a curriculum developed by the College Board.
 
In 2005, Mrs. Smith and her husband, a Healthcare Science teacher at Lithia Springs, made the decision to move their family to Carrollton. Both applied and were hired at Central High School. Mrs. Smith currently teaches Honors and College Prep ninth grade English in Central’s Freshman Academy and is one of the academy lead teachers. She serves on the Freshman Advisory Board and assists with the implementation of “R.O.A.R.,” the positive behavior intervention program.
 
Mrs. Smith and her husband Chris have been married for 13 years. They have two children. Drew, a third grader at Central Elementary, is an avid soccer and volleyball player. Will is in kindergarten at Central Elementary and enjoys soccer and baseball. The Smiths are active members of First Christian Church in Carrollton.
