Katie Fowler Staff Photo

Hello! My name is Katie Fowler, and I am a self-contained teacher in the Special Education department here at Central High School. I am currently in my 11th year of education, and in my first year as a high school teacher. I previously taught special education for 5 years at Sharp Creek Elementary School, where I also served as the In-School Coordinator for Special Education. Prior to that, I taught special education at Sand Hill Elementary School.

I am Carroll County educated, and was a 2003 honor graduate of Villa Rica High School. I received my Undergraduate Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Intellectual Disabilities in May of 2007 from the University of West Georgia. I received my Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Elementary Reading in May of 2013 from Grand Canyon University.

I have always wanted to teach since I was a small child. I would come home from a full day of preschool and go in my room and teach my stuffed animals when I was little. This passion for teaching has never changed! I truly believe that my purpose on Earth is to teach, and show my students that their differences don't matter to the person they can become and the life that they live. I love what I do, and would not want to be anywhere else than Central High School.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Matthew. We have two amazing daughters: Marianne, who is 9 years-old and in the 3rd grade, and Audrie, who is 7 years-old and in the 2nd grade. Both my girls currently attend Sharp Creek Elementary School, where I previously taught. We are very active members at Villa Rica 1st UMC, and love serving and worshipping with our amazing church family. In my spare time (which is not very often), I love to spend time with my family, crochet, read, and volunteer wherever I can.
