The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code, have students toss all food and drinks from outside vendors, spit out gum and remove all head gear. Put cell phones away as you enter class. Students may NOT wear earbuds or headphones in the hallways.

SHOUT OUT

Today’s first shout out goes to Shirley Sharp for being selected by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and the U.S. Department of Education as a candidate for the Presidential Scholars Program. Students are chosen for outstanding performance on the ACT or SAT, along with nominations from school officials. Congratulations Shirley!

Our second shout out goes to the boys and girls basketball teams for winning the Coca Cola/Powerade Video Contest titled Powerade-Power Your School. Students prepared a video and after submitting to Coca Cola, they were selected for a $2,000 prize and will be recognized with other metro Atlanta winners. Congratulations Coaches and Central Lions basketball!

NEW NEWS

Best Buddies will meet in the Media Center Wednesday, February 5, at 7:45 a.m. We will be discussing Special Olympics and Valentine’s Day. Plan to attend.

If you are interested in trying out for competition cheerleading, please see Coach Perryman for information. Tryouts will be February 11, 12, and 13. 

The Closet of Kindness is collecting donated prom dresses that will be available for FREE for Central students attending prom. The Closet of Kindness will be open Friday, February 7, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the TLC on the 400 hall. Drop off donations in the guidance office.

Central High School’s FFA will be presented with a proclamation for National FFA Week on February 4 at the Carroll County Board of Commissioners meeting. All members are welcomed to attend wearing either the chapter shirt or FFA jacket. The commissioner’s meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Carroll County Courthouse. In order to attend, you must arrive no later than 5:40 p.m. to be escorted by FFA officers to the meeting room.

All Key Club members need to get Golden K Pancake tickets from Ms. Bowen this week. This is a required activity for every member. 

DUES & DEADLINES

Senior Fees: $175 until February 14. CASH ONLY. See Linda Morris in the Media Center. 

Junior Prom Dues: $150 until February 13. See Mrs. Perryman, Ms. Duncan or Ms. Abby Smith.

Senior Prom Dues: $70 until February 13 (Only if student did not attend as a junior). See Mrs. Perryman, Ms. Duncan or Ms. Abby Smith.

Yearbook Sales: $90; see Ms. Monica Smith. 

AFTER SCHOOL

Tennis is on the court tomorrow night. Snacks with the Superintendent is open to the public on Wednesday, February 5 at 4:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Mr. Cowart will be updating district news and sharing SPLOST information.
