Announcements for Tuesday, March 19, 2019

The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and have students get rid of all food from outside vendors. Ask students to spit out gum and remove all head gear. Students must use earbuds, not headphones. Blankets are not to be used in school. Please leave blankets at home.

Attention Students: There will be NO after school tutoring in the Media Center today.

SHOUT OUT

Today’s big shout out goes to Men’s Soccer for running over Callaway 4-0 last night. Goals were scored by Edwin Ibarra for 2, Isaiah Trejo and Mike Rodriguez. Jay Olvey and Joey Young got the shutout in goal.

Our second shout out goes to the JV Girls Soccer Team beating Callaway last night, 3-1. Bricely Galvan scored 2 goals and Kaitlyn Jordan scored 1 goal.

Our final shout out of the day goes to Ainsley Cowart for earning low medalist with a 76, four (4) strokes under her closest opponent in last night’s golf match. Great job Ainsley!

NEW NEWS

It's time for some March Poetry Madness! Beginning today, teachers can share two poems with their classes and each class will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite poem of the day. Poems are linked to the March Poetry Madness bracket for viewing on the school Facebook page, Twitter page, and website. Good luck and may the best poem win!

Attention Key Club Members: Please plan to attend a meeting on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:45 a.m. or right after school in Ms. Bowen’s room, 732.

Attention Class of 2020: Senior portraits will be taken this summer on June 10 and 11 in the front lobby of the school. You will receive scheduling information after Spring Break. What we need from you is an email address so that you can receive reminders about senior portraits. There are QR codes outside English teachers' doors on the 600 and 700 halls. There is also a link on the Central Yearbook Facebook page. Please submit your name and email address this week. Thank you!

Prom participants: If you need to pick up an invitation, you can do so 4th - 7th periods today outside Room 633. Seniors, line up for senior walk will begin at 6:00 prom night. You must be in line by 6:15 in order to participate.

If you are interested in trying out for football/competition cheerleading for the 2019-2020 season, all paperwork needs to be turned in to Mrs. Jordan in room 403 by Thursday, March 21. Remember you must have an up-to-date physical to participate in tryouts.

The final list of performers for the talent show is posted outside the chorus room. See Ms. Phillips if you have any questions. The talent show will be held on March 29 during 6th and 7th periods. You can buy tickets for $2 in advance.

Attention Teachers: For $10 you can wear blue jeans Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 29, with all proceeds supporting Special Olympics. You may pay your $10 to Ms. Duffey or Ms. DeFriese today!

AFTER SCHOOL

HOPE meets in the Media Center after school, Varsity Tennis is home against Troup County, and CMS Soccer is playing in Lion Valley tonight.

It’s a great day to be a Central Lion and let’s remember, stay positive, work hard, and make it happen!
