The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and have students get rid of all food from outside vendors. Ask students to spit out gum and remove all head gear. Students must use earbuds, not headphones. Blankets are not to be used in school. Please leave blankets at home.

SHOUT OUT

Today’s first shout out goes to the Central High School Wrestling Team as all 13 men placed in the Sectional Tournament, qualifying for the State Tournament. At 13, Central High School qualified more wrestlers than any other 4AAAA Team in the State!! The following team members placed in their respective weight classes:

Today’s second shout out goes to the Central Men’s Quartet and Women’s Trio for placing 5th and 4th, respectively, in the Kiwanis Music Showcase yesterday! Jarrett Arnell, Will Smith, Mikiah Johnson, and Nolan Crane make up the quartet. Alli Walls, Bles Denney, and MaryAnna Taylor make up the trio. Way to go!

Our third shout out goes to Central's student artists. Central was represented by 25 student artists at the Kiwanis Art & Music Showcase. The following artists were recognized at last night's award reception: 12th grader, Haley Thompson - Honorable Mention, 12th grader, Hannah Thompson - 4th place, earning $100, and 12th grader, Abigail Sadler - 1st place, earning $400. Please congratulate these individuals and all of Centrals art students. Everyone did an amazing job!!!!

Our fourth shout out goes to Max Farmer! He set a school record on his way to a 9th place finish in the State meet. He was competing against all swimmers single A through 5AAAAA. The members of the Men's 200 Free relay swam their best time ever. Great job everyone!

Our fifth shout out goes to the men’s soccer team for bringing in another win! They defeated Locust Grove 1 to 0 on Saturday. Luis Delgado scored off assist from Nate Robles.

Our final shout out goes to the Varsity Academic Team for finishing in the sweet 16 in state competition.  Anna Carnes, Asher Pate, Brant Entrekin, and Lane Jacobs scored victories over Lamar and Lumpkin counties and finished off a great year. Good job guys.

NEW NEWS

Get ready for Kindness Week! The week begins with Mix It Up Monday with a Tech-Free Zone in the cafeteria during lunch. Tuesday we Link Together with kind messages that will be hung in the 3-story building, followed by Rock it out Wednesday. Thursday the Show Some Love video will debut during all lunches, be sure to wear red and sign the pledge banner to Show Some Love!

Central High School is hosting a food drive for the next two weeks. Please bring your non-perishable items to the front atrium. Items needed are:

--toothpaste

--canned meats

--canned fruits

--cereal and oatmeal

--canned pastas (spaghettios, ravioli, etc.)

There will be a junior parent meeting on Monday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. in our cafeteria about Financial Aid for college. Our Georgia Student Finance Commission representative, Mr. Ben Meadows, will be presenting about the HOPE Scholarship, FAFSA, and other information about paying for college.

The deadline to register for AP Exams is February 13. Visit the school website under Guidance, find a QR code posted around school or visit the Guidance Google Classroom for the link to register.

The 2018 Football Banquet has been rescheduled for February 25, with the location to be announced at a later date.

The Blood Drive has been rescheduled for March 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. To give blood, please see Ms. Startup in the nurse's office.

Senior Fees are $150, cash only. See Ms. Morris in the Media Center.

Junior Prom Dues: $150, see Ms. Trumble or Wooten.

Yearbook: $90; January 18 final day for name stamps. See Ms. Monica Smith.

AFTER SCHOOL

Dual enrollment night is at 6:00 p.m. at the PAC!

It’s a great day to be a Central Lion and let’s remember, stay positive, work hard, and make it happen!
