The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and have students get rid of all food from outside vendors. Ask students to spit out gum and remove all head gear. Students must use earbuds, not headphones. Blankets are not to be used in school. Please leave blankets at home.


Today’s first big shout out goes to the Central High School Wrestling Team for pinning the competition to become Area Champions!! This is the first time in the history of Central High School our wrestlers have earned the title! The team destroyed Troup County in the first round and beat Cartersville to claim the trophy! The Lions travel to Macon on Thursday to compete in the State Tournament! Great job Lions!!

Today’s second big shout out goes to the Central High School Swim Team for finishing 14 place out of 24 teams at this weekends competition in Calhoun. Max Farmer led the team by finishing in fifth place overall in the 100 yard backstroke. His time makes him the first Central swimmer to ever qualify for the state swim meet. Congratulations Max!! Karlie Benefield, Bryce Mathis, and Bennett Little also represented the Lions in the finals. The men’s relay teams took eighth and 10th place. The team heads back to Calhoun on Thursday for their next to last meet of the season.


FCA is back for the New Year. Join us on Friday at 7:45 a.m. in the wrestling room for a time of fellowship and devotion. You don’t want to miss it!

The Central High School Ag Department is taking orders for mild, medium, or hot varieties of sausage at $5.00 per pound. To place your order contact Nikhol Dysart at

Key Club will have a meetings at 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 16 in Mrs. Bowen’s room 732. Please plan to attend one of the meetings.


The 2018 Football Banquet will be held on January 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. Coach Smiley is asking all players to wear either a shirt and tie combo or collar shirt and khaki pants for this event. There will be a meal catered, free of charge for the players. If your parents wish to eat, the cost is $10 each. All money will need to be turned in to Coach Smiley by January 22. If you have any questions please see Coach Smiley in the fieldhouse.

Students, do you enjoy making a difference in your community?  What about having a positive impact globally? If so, you might be a perfect fit for our new club, "The Interact Club".  Come to an informational meeting on Wednesday, January 16 in room 210 at 7:45 a.m. If you can’t make it to the meeting, please see Mrs. Knowles for details.

Girls Soccer tryouts will be Monday, January 14 at 3:45 p.m. Anyone interested in trying out please see Coach Hart in room 404.

Yearbook: $90; January 18 final day for name stamps. See Ms. Monica Smith.


Parent University takes place tonight in the Media Center at 6:00 p.m. for 9th grade parents. Basketball plays at Troup County tomorrow.
