The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and have students get rid of all food from outside vendors. Ask students to spit out gum and remove all head gear. Students must use earbuds, not headphones.

SHOUT OUT

Today’s super big shout out goes to the Central High School Marching Pride for earning top honors Saturday at the Rockmart Marching Competition. Drum Majors Hanna Puckett and Catherine Gray earned a Superior Rating, Best in Open Class, and Championship of the day. The Color Guard earned a Superior Rating, Best in Open Class, and Championship of the day. The Percussion earned a Superior Rating, Best in Open Class, and Championship of the day. The Band earned All Superior Ratings, Best in Open Class, and Championship of the day. The Marching Pride earned the Overall Grand Championship with a final score of 97! Most importantly, the Pride earned the “David Snipes Memorial Showmanship Award” for being chosen as the Most Entertaining Band of the Day! Congratulations Marching Pride on these incredible accomplishments! Way to go Neil Ruby, Courtney Zhorela, and Brandon Dailey for taking our band to higher score with each performance! Go Pride Go!!!

Our second big shout out goes to the Academic Players of the Week for the Chapel Hill game, Autumn Kessler and Mauricio Centeno, and Teacher of the Week Chad Mathew. Academic Players of the Week for Troup County are Rebecca Long and Levi Baker, and Teacher of the Week is Brian Terry! Stop by the Media Center for a picture and tee shirt. Congratulations!

 NEW NEWS

Boys basketball tryouts take place in the Walker gym after school today and tomorrow. Please note, tryouts are closed to students only.

School picture retakes are this Wednesday, October 24. Students who were absent during picture day should have received a letter from the yearbook staff. If you need to sign up for retakes, but did not receive a letter, please see Mrs. Monica Smith to sign up for an appointment.

There will be an ISDS meeting on Wednesday, October 24, in Mrs. Monica Smith's room. You can attend the 7:45 a.m. meeting or the 3:45 p.m. meeting.

Students, do you enjoy a good discussion with varying viewpoints? Do you love to defend ideas that you are passionate about? If so, you could fit right into our new group, "The Civil Discourse Club".  Come to an informational meeting next Thursday, October 25 in room 405 at 3:45. If you can’t make the meeting, see Ms. Perry for details.

DUES & FEES

Senior Fees: $125 until December 15; see Ms. Duffey in the main office.

Junior Prom Dues: $100 until December 18. See Mr. Trumble, Wooten, or Perryman.

Yearbook: $80 until October 31.  See Ms. Monica Smith.

AFTER SCHOOL

Reminder, boys basketball tryouts will be held in the Walker gym after school today and tomorrow. Please note, tryouts are closed to the students trying out only.
