Central High School

Announcements for Friday, October 19, 2018

The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and have students get rid of all food from outside vendors. Ask students to spit out gum and remove all head gear. Students must use earbuds, not headphones.

Today’s Bullying Prevention Awareness Month quote comes from Tim Fields, “Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life, but define yourself.

Today’s first big shout out goes to the JV Central Lions Football Team for defeating the Callaway Cavaliers 14-12. The Lions were led on the ground by Narada Levett, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown. The defense was led by Courtland Caldwell and CJ Shadinger who had 6 tackles a piece; the entire defense played with tremendous effort. With 1:20 left in the game down by 4, Donovan Smith caught a screen pass from Caleb Griffis and took it 70 yards for the game winning score. Great job men!

Our second shout out goes to the Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams for dominating Central High School’s first home meet yesterday afternoon. Brenden Slater and Nick Potts led the guys finishing 2nd and 3rd overall while the ladies were led by Madeline Potts, Cadie Kilgore, and Abby Cook who came in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place overall. Kudos to Dawson Davis who broke his personal record. Both teams clinched 1st overall for their genders. Great job everyone!

Our final shout out goes to our cafeteria folks in honor of School Nutrition Week! Thank you to Ms. Carole Call-Walker and her team for always making our cafeteria experience awesome. If you go through the lunch line today, be sure to say “thank you” to the folks who prepare and serve your food.

Today is the final day to bring donations to the Ag Department for victims of Hurricane Michael.

Students, do you enjoy a good discussion with varying viewpoints? Do you love to defend ideas that you are passionate about? If so, you could fit right into our new group, "The Civil Discourse Club".  Come to an informational meeting next Thursday, October 25 in room 405 at 3:45. If you can’t make the meeting, see Ms. Perry for details.

Any student who buys a yearbook by October 26 will be entered in a raffle for the gift card. We will draw a name live via Facebook at 12:00 noon on October 31. Order your yearbook today!
