The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and have students get rid of all food from outside vendors. Ask students to spit out gum and remove all head gear. Students must use earbuds, not headphones.


Today’s big shout out goes to the Central High School Academic Teams! Big kudos to the Varsity Academic Team members Anna Carnes, Asher Pate, Brant Entrekin, and Lane Jacobs who placed 2nd at yesterday’s Regional Academic Team meet, and kudos to JV Academic Team members Caden Horsley, Derek Bolden, and Naomi Norbraten who placed second overall as well. Great job guys!

Our second shout out goes to the following Cross Country athletes who smashed their personal records this weekend at the Darlington XC Festival; Angel Muniz, Kyler Huff, Cadie Kilgore, and Sandy Wilson. Nice job guys!


Thursday, October 4, there will be a meeting in the cafeteria at the beginning of 1st period for students who signed up to take the SAT Saturday, October 10 at Central High School. You will report to the cafeteria directly; do not go to 1st period.

Attention Beta Club members: There will be a meeting this Thursday at 7:45 a.m. in room 141. The Beta Club Induction Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Next week is Homecoming Week! Get your dress up day gear ready! Monday, October 8 is Meme Monday and our Community Pep Rally with activities and Sweetheart recognition will take place in Lion Valley beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Knockerball waiver forms must be turned in to Mrs. Cowart in room 735 no later than Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Late forms will not be accepted and you will not be eligible to play.

FFA will be meeting after school tomorrow in the Ag room, bring a friend and learn about upcoming events!

If you are interested in trying-out for basketball cheerleading, stop by and pick up the required paperwork from Ms. Jordan in room 403. Paperwork must be completed, with parent signatures, and returned to Ms. Jordan no later than Wednesday, October 10. Basketball cheerleading tryouts are scheduled for October 16, 17, and 18.

Central High School is supporting the Open Door Children’s Home located in Rome, Georgia. Students are collecting shoe boxes of Halloween socks, arts and crafts, candies, and school supplies. Your donation for the shoe boxes can be dropped in the Media Center. Student, Hannah Warren, is heading up this donation drive with Colby Watson, Destiny Smith, Rebekah Cochran, and Madison Lathery.

Attention Students: If you would like to earn points toward club honors, please sign-up to volunteer with our Marching Pride Band for the 36th Annual Super Bowl of Sound. The band needs volunteers throughout the day on Saturday, October 6. The busiest time is between 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Please see Mr. Ruby in the band room for more details.


Math Team members: Tee shirt money is due no later than Monday, October 8 to Mr. Murphy in room 734.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is currently being observed across the country. American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America can be explored by visiting our Media Center. Students in Dr. Ingram’s classes have created bio-information pages on well-known Hispanic-American people that will be on display until October 15.

Thursday, October 4, during 3rd period, there is a mandatory Sweetheart practice from 10:15-11:12 a.m. on the home side of the football stadium.

Thursday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m. there is a mandatory Homecoming Court practice on the home side of football stadium.


Today is our Blood Drive in the cafeteria from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Softball begins their region tournament today, playing at Chapel Hill. Make the drive and support our Central Lady Lions!
