The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and have students get rid of all food from outside vendors. Ask students to spit out gum and remove all head gear. Students must use earbuds, not headphones.

SHOUT OUT

Today’s super big shout out goes to the Lady Lion Softball Team for smashing  Cedartown last night 14-1 in 5 innings. It was an awesome offensive day for the Lions. The Lady Lions had 17 hits on the night. Taylor Stevens led the way with 3 hits including another home run. Maggie Harris got the win in the circle pitching all 5 innings giving up only 1 run. JV also won 8-4. It was a great night for our Central teams! Way to go ladies.

Our second shout out goes to the Central Volleyball Teams for bringing home two (2) big Region wins last night. The ladies ran over Sandy Creek 25-9, 25-11 and followed it up with a strong win over LaGrange 25-20, 25-18. Great job ladies!

Our third shout out goes to our Football Academic Players of the Week for the Mundy’s Mill game, Cameron Parks and Jaylen Minnifield. The Mundy’s Mill Teacher of the Week is Mr. Mitt Conerly. Football Academic Players of the Week for the Heard County game are Daniel Phillips and Zach Folds. Heard County Teacher of the Week is Ms. Abby Smith. Players and teachers, please stop by the Media Center for a picture and tee shirt courtesy of Coach Smiley. Congratulations!

NEW NEWS

The second round of Homecoming selections takes place today. Students, use the link or QR code posted outside of classroom doors, lunch tables or in the Media Center. Select one female and one male in your grade level. Teacher selections will not be counted.

Attention Seniors: The graduating Class of 2019 consists of 285 members. Of 285 students, only 51 have paid senior fees and given the front office sizing information for cap and gown purchases. Please take care of your senior fees as soon as possible!

Attention Dream Team Members: If you would like your Dream Team ID for athletic event access, please see Ms. Akin in the Media Center.

Students, are you interested in a career using Agriculture equipment and machinery? Ms. Williford with Central FFA will be visiting the South Georgia Technical College on September 28. Stop by her classroom to learn about the certification and pick up a permission form.

Central FFA will be hosting a Spirit Night at American Pie on September 20. Dine-in or take-out proceeds will go to help student programs and the Ag in the Classroom outreach class!

Homecoming spirit tee shirts are on sale in the cafeteria at lunch ONLY. Shirts are $20 each; you must have a shirt to participate in Homecoming activities. Buy one today!

Senior Class Officers and Student Council members have a meeting Wednesday, September 19 at 7:45 a.m. with Balfour in the Media Center. Please be on time!

Attention 11th grade students: September 27 is the deadline for PSAT registration. See Ms. Dixon in the Guidance Office to register and pay your $16.00 fee. Fee waivers are also available in the Guidance Office.

DUES & FEES

Senior Fees: $125 until December 15; see Ms. Duffey in the main office.

Junior Prom Dues: $100 until December 18. See Mr. Trumble, Wooten, or Perryman.

Yearbook: $70, increasing to $80 September 15; see Ms. Monica Smith.

AFTER SCHOOL

Thursday, Central High School Chorus students will participate in the Carroll County High School Chorus performance at 6:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

JV Volleyball plays Bremen and Chapel Hill at home tonight. Varsity Volleyball returns to action Thursday, when they go back to LaGrange facing LaGrange and Shaw. Come out and support our Volleyball Teams!

It’s a great day to be a Central Lion and let’s remember, stay positive, work hard, and make it happen!
