The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and ask students to get rid of food and drinks from outside vendors. Please have students remove hoods and headgear inside the classroom, in the gym and in the hallways. Beat headphones are not allowed in school, only earbuds.


Today’s big shout out goes to the Central High School Young Georgia Authors winners. Please congratulate for 9th grade - Naomi Norbraten, 10th grade - Emily Brooks, 11th grade - Kaitlyn Brown, and 12th grade - Carolina Butler.

Our second shout out goes to the Central High School Wrestling Team for being area runner-up. The Lions took 13 wrestlers and qualified all 13 for the sectional tournament. Congratulations to C.J. Shadinger and Sam Conerly who won the area in their weight classes. All 13 wrestlers placed in the top 4 in their respective weight categories. This is a new Central High School record!

Our third shout out goes to the following group of students who have advanced to state level Governor’s Honors Program interviews. Congratulations to:

Our final shout out goes to Victoria Richardson for being named a semifinalist in the U. S. Presidential Scholar Program. This is a huge honor for both Victoria and Central High School. Congratulations!


Students, if you are going to prom, you must fill out a prom form. If your date does not attend Central High School, you must get a date form for your date and your must provide a copy of their driver's license.  Please see Mrs. Trumble, Mrs. Wooten, or Mrs. Defriese for prom forms.  All forms must be returned by March 16.

Attention Seniors: Balfour will be on campus tomorrow during lunch to deliver announcement orders placed before the holiday break. It’s not too late to order announcements. Check out the announcement link found under Clubs and Organizations on the school webpage. See Linda Morris with questions.

Attention students: If you are interested in participating in the Central High School Shotgun Team, there will be a meeting for you and your parents tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center computer lab. See Mr. Edwards or Mr. Griffis with questions.

Ms. Leonine contestant registration forms and fees are due no later than Wednesday, January 31 to Ms. Phillips in room 401 or Ms. Eidson in room 632. Please get your form turned in ASAP to make sure we have enough participation for the competition! Ms. Leonine contestants will meet in Ms. Phillips room on Monday, February 5. There is no meeting scheduled after school today.

West Georgia Technical College will be on our campus on Thursday morning, February 15 at 8:15 am in the Media Center Computer Lab giving the ACCUPLACER Exam.  The ACCUPLACER is a free entrance exam to gain admission to West Georgia Technical College.  This test date is specifically for students in grades 9 through eleven who are interested in participating in the Dual Enrollment program.  Another ACCUPLACER will be scheduled in late March for seniors who are interested in enrolling at West Georgia Technical College after high school graduation.  If you are interested in taking the ACCUPLACER on February 15, please drop by the Guidance Office to sign-up for the test.


The yearbook staff is now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 Leonine yearbook staff! Information is posted outside of English teacher's classrooms. The deadline for applying is February 7, 2018. Please see Mrs. Monica Smith if you have any questions.

AP Exam registration is open today through February 19; please see the QR codes posted around campus, on Facebook, the Guidance Office webpage or Ms. Zerr for the link to register. All Advanced Placement (AP) exams will be registered for online at

JV Basketball plays at home tonight and tomorrow night is senior night for our varsity players. Make plans to attend the game and cheer for our Central Lions!!
