The mission of Central High School is to provide all students with educational opportunities through a challenging curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse school community.

Teachers -- Please check dress code and ask students to get rid of food and drinks from outside vendors.

Attention Basketball Cheerleader Tryout Candidates: Monday is the LAST CHANCE to turn in forms and physicals to Coach Jordan. If your form is not turned in Monday morning, you will not be allowed to participate in tryouts. Tryouts will begin Tuesday, October 10 in the new gym at 5:00 p.m.  


Today’s big shout out comes from class officers and student council members! A super big shout out THANK YOU to all faculty, staff and administration for helping make this week’s activities successful and memorable for our students. Last night’s parade, knockerball and Powder Puff games were fun for everyone. Go Lions!  

Our second big shout out goes to Alli Eidson, Marla Williams, and Kim Cowart for organizing and pulling off the best Homecoming parade on record! Great job organizing knockerball and the Powder Puff games too!

Our third shout out goes to Ms. Colleen Jones for announcing the Homecoming parade. Thanks for your hard work and support!

Our third shout out goes to the seniors for killing it in the knockerball tournament. Kaden Taylor took out Sam Conerly to win the title. And congratulations to the juniors for winning the Powder Puff game.


Attention Teachers:  Today’s pep rally will begin at 2:00 pm. Classes will be released to the gym by an announcement from Ms. Duffey. Students will need to take their belongings to the gym.  Please check your emails regarding an earlier release time for band, class officers, and athletes for pep rally preparations.  

Attention Students:  We have traveled from our bed through a virtual world of music and movies, to a land far away and a future that is out of this world. Our tourist adventures have taken us from Mexico, Mardi Gras, Africa, and Hawaii and have brought us together as one community, one family, and one pride. Today to celebrate the meaning behind being a Central Lion; once a LION, always a LION!  Happy Homecoming and GOOOOOOO LIONS!

Following the football game on Friday, all cars must be moved off campus. Cars remaining on campus Friday after midnight will be towed. Thank you for your help with this!

The fall chorus concert will take place Tuesday, October 10 at the Performing Arts Center at 7:00 p.m. The concert is free, so please come support our chorus program!


Sophomores will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 11 in the old gym starting at the beginning of 1st period. Students will report directly to the gym that morning. Students can see seating locations by checking the rosters posted around campus. Seating is based on your last name. Juniors who signed up to take the PSAT will report to the TLC 1st period.

Get Up and Move Central- Students if  you are serious about your health and would like some nutrition advice, an exercise coach and a motivational partner to help you make a lifestyle change come join us for our 5 week program. The program will start the week of October 16 and continue until Thanksgiving Break. We will have six (6) spots available per session. The second session will begin after Christmas break. Please stop by and see Mrs. Duffey in the Main Office to sign up.

Students, picture retakes are Tuesday, October 10, from 8:00-11:30. Students who were absent will have an appointment time; you will receive an appointment card by this Friday. Students who are unhappy with their pictures from the first picture day can sign up for an appointment in room 626. If you purchased your pictures, you must bring your original package with you in order to have retakes. Faculty members who missed the first picture day should have their pictures taken at 8:00 a.m.

Basketball cheerleading paperwork must be turned in by Friday, October 6 to Ms. Jordan in room 403. Tryouts will be held October 10-12.

Now is the time to pay prom dues.  Juniors, dues are $100 and will increase October 12.  You may pay Ms. Eady, Mrs. Wooten, or Mrs. Trumble.

Tonight our Central Lions Football Team takes on Cedartown in the Homecoming game. Homecoming Sweethearts are recognized at 6:00 p.m., the King will be crowned at 6:30 and our Homecoming Queen will be crowned during halftime.
