Central High School FFA Student Reserve Champion Award Recipient

Central High School FFA member Maddy Arrington has earned the Reserve Champion Award in the inaugural Layer Poultry Competition and 5th High Individual honors in the Senior Division Forestry Competition.

The Layer Poultry Competition begins with students raising hatchlings, recording feed intake, and manage production ability. Students record the size and evaluate the chicken’s health during this time period.

The Forestry Completion requires students to utilize knowledge of silvicultural practices, identification, and compass to manage timber stands based on a given objective. Students utilize clinometers and Biltmore sticks to evaluate tree heights and diameter.

The Layer Poultry Competition and Forestry Competition are sponsored by the Carroll County Young Farmers organization. Central High School Agriculture Instructors are Ms. Laura Williford and Ms. Nikhol Dysart.
