Central High School Receives $2,400 Grant

Central High School has been awarded a $2,400 grant from the Georgia Foundation for Public Education. The grant was awarded to fund the career-readiness initiative developed to compliment the utilization of the YouScience aptitude assessment tool for students.

“The grant gives us the opportunity to pay for industrial tours for our seniors, in addition to continuing our efforts to expand Job Shadow Day and Mock Interview Day by hosting Central High School’s first-ever Career Fair,” stated Ms. Corinne Hindman, Site Coordinator for Communities in Schools. Dr. Donna Simpson, Central High School’s Lead School Guidance Counselor added, “Our goal is to offer more opportunities to our students and help them achieve the district’s goal of being Enrolled, Enlisted, or Employed upon graduation from high school.”

Principal Mr. Jared Griffis said, “The addition of YouScience for our students in the past year has been a blessing. This program gives students a direction to start exploring with their future careers. The additional funds through this grant will help us continue to provide quality opportunities for our students as we prepare them for life after high school.”
