Central High School Student Takes 1st Place in Employability Skills Contest

Central High School student and FFA Treasurer, Karis Askin, placed 1st in the Carroll County Young Farmers Employability Skills competition. The competition was held at the Carroll County Agriculture Center and allowed students from the county to increase job interview and resume building skills. Students participated in a job interview with representatives from the agriculture industry as well as local companies. Karis received a plaque and scholarship award sponsored by the Carroll County Young Farmers Association. Karis will participate in the Georgia FFA Association’s Area 1 Employability Skills competition in November.

Community members who volunteered time with the event evaluating materials and interviewing students were Mr. Daniel Jackson and Ms. Suzy Montalto of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Sandy Entrekin from Carroll EMC, Mr. Lawrence Shadix of the Georgia Farm Bureau, Ms. Wendy Samples from Mt. Zion High School’s Business Education Department, Ms. Kelly Bass and Ms. Marsha Morris from Carroll County Schools Career Connections Program, and Laura Williford, Central High School Agriculture teacher and event coordinator.
