Lt Col Derick Steed Addresses Central High School JROTC

Lt Col Derick Steed, United States Air Force retired, was a guest speaker for the Central High School Air Force JROTC today. Lt Col Steed’s family has been in the West Georgia area for over 150 years. He is a 1993 graduate of Bowdon High School and was STAR Student as well as captain of the wrestling team.

After graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 1997, Col Steed completed pilot training and chose to become a MC-130 pilot in the Air Force Special Operation Command (AFSOC). He invested the next 20 years serving our nation, retiring from the Air Force in 2017. As a pilot for Southwest Airlines, he relocated back to the West Georgia area with his family.

Col Steed shared his experiences with our Cadets and encouraged them to be determined in reaching their life goals. The Carroll County Schools JROTC Program is directed by Lt Col Mike Washington and MSgt Charles Smith.
