Central High School GHP Students Advance to State Interviews

Central High School is sending eight (8) students to state interviews for the Governor’s Honors Program. The Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. The program offers instruction that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.

Central High School Principal Mr. Jared Griffis said, “Most high schools are lucky to see 2-3 students’ advance to the state level interviews. For Central to have eight (8) students advancing speaks volumes about the dedication and commitment of our students and teachers. Central High School’s focus on teaching and learning has given our students the knowledge they need to be successful both inside and outside the classroom.”

Governor’s Honors Program interviews conclude in late February with award notifications for finalists and alternates being sent in late March. The summer program begins in mid-June at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
