Central High School Welcomes Two New Assistant Principals

Central High School welcomed two new assistant principals this school year, Mr. Christopher Scott Long and Mrs. Colleen Farley Jones.

Mr. Scott Long comes to the Carroll County School System from Douglas County where he taught and coached at Chapel Hill High School. After earning his undergraduate degree in psychology from Shorter University, Mr. Long worked with the Atlanta Crime Commission in Fulton County. Mr. Long earned his Master’s Degree in Education from the University of West Georgia and is currently working on a higher academic degree from Piedmont College. Mr. Long’s honors include being part of the 1987 Central High School State Championship Football Team and being named, in back-to-back years, as the Douglas County and Region Coach of the Year.

After being away for 27 years, Mr. Long is happy to return to his roots at Central High School; he is married and has three (3) beautiful daughters.

Mrs. Colleen Jones joins the Central community in her 11 year in education, and is a three time graduate of the University of West Georgia. She holds her Education Specialist degree in educational leadership. Mrs. Jones started her career as a teacher and coach at Whitewater High School in Fayette County. She joined Carroll County Schools in 2007 as a 7th grade social studies and English teacher at Bowdon Middle School. For the past four (4) years, Mrs. Jones has served as the assistant principal at Bowdon Elementary School. Her honors include being named Carroll County School’s 2013 Teacher of the Year and receiving the 2017 Student Support Team Association for Georgia Educators (SSTAGE) Rising Star award for the state of Georgia.

Mrs. Jones is married to Gordon Jones, plant manager at Rotoplas in Tallapossa, they have one child, Jake Jones, who is 9 months old.
