Central High School honored two athletes who signed to participate in collegiate sports. Senior Maddie Dodson will play softball for Columbus State University in the fall and has plans to become a high school teacher. Maddie has been catcher for the Central Lions and was instrumental in the team winning this year’s state champion honors. Coach David McKenna said, “We are very proud of Maddie and know she will do well in college. Maddie is a fantastic catcher and a wonderful player to coach.”

Dawson Hunt signed to wrestle with Reinhardt University. Dawson is the first Central Lion in history to sign a wrestling scholarship. He credits his success to his coaches and parents, specifically Coach Fountain and Coach Adams. Both coaches trained and worked with Dawson giving him the attention and individualized focus to become the skilled, calm wrestler he is today. Coach Fountain stated, “Dawson is the hardest working wrestler I’ve ever had the privilege to coach. I truly think his greatest wrestling success is yet to come.” Dawson plans to study Business Management as he begins his tenure with Reinhardt in the fall.
