Amelia Farmer Named 2017 Distinguished Gifted Teen of the Year

Central High School student Amelia Farmer was named the 2017 Distinguished Gifted Teen of the Year by the Georgia Association of Gifted Children. Amelia was recognized and awarded a $500 scholarship by the organization during a recent ceremony in Athens.

Ms. Kate Theobald, the Associate Director of the Advanced Academy of Georgia, nominated Amelia for this honor. The mission of the Georgia Association of Gifted Children is to advocate for gifted children and youth by working with educators, parents, policymakers, and the community to meet the needs of the gifted. The purpose of the Distinguished Gifted Teen Award is to recognize a student currently between the ages of 13 and 17 who has demonstrated giftedness, dedication, creativity, and a desire to help others.
