Central High School Presents International Skills Diploma Seal Candidates
Central High School presented seven (7) students for the International Skills Diploma Seal (ISDS) honors last evening. The Georgia Department of Education (DOE) will review student portfolio submissions as well as score sheets and comments from four (4) local individual serving as judges of the student work. Once portfolios are reviewed, the DOE will announce ISDS recipients. Mrs. Carrie Gay, Ms. Donna Lackey, Mr. Ron Shepherd, and Mrs. Kay Stone volunteered their time and expertise in reviewing student work. “I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge each student shared about their country and passion for learning,” said Ms. Donna Lackey, Senior Vice President of Carroll Tomorrow and the Carroll Chamber of Commerce.
In preparing Georgia students for a global economy, it is important for students to acquire the interdisciplinary skills they need to be globally competent and competitive. The International Skills Diploma Seal is awarded to graduating high school students who complete the international education curriculum and engage in extracurricular activities and experiences that foster the achievement of global competencies. It is a signal to employers and higher education institutions that a student is prepared to participate in the global economy.
“Our students have the opportunity to not only learn more about our world and the international economy; they also learn how they stack up with students around the state. We feel our students are off to a good start in the ISDS program. We are looking to broaden the courses and opportunities offered to our students in the coming years,” said Mr. Jared Griffis, Central High School Principal.
Central High School sponsors of the International Skills Diploma Seal are Dr. Donna Simpson, Ms. Sarah Hall, Ms. Monica Smith, and Ms. Stephanie Kuzy-Jenkins.
