Central High School Honors Wendy’s Heisman School Winners

Two Central High School students were School Winners of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship Award. Seniors Rick Dyer and Emily Williams were recognized by Central High School Principal Jared Griffis.

The Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship was created by Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, in 1994. Dave Thomas dropped out of high school when he was 15 years old in order to work full-time. He later became one of the most successful entrepreneurs in history. At age 61, Dave received his General Equivalency Diploma (GED). This inspired him to celebrate the outstanding achievements of youth in America, so he launched the Wendy’s High School Heisman in partnership with the Heisman Trophy Trust. Since that time, Wendy’s has awarded nearly $2 million to support education.

Rick Dyer is a Central High School football player and Emily Williams is pitcher for the State Champion Central Lions Softball Team.
