Central High School Names Erin Smith Teacher of the Year

Mrs. Erin Smith was selected by her peers to serve as Central High Schools's Teacher of the Year. In her 8th year as a Spanish teacher, she teaches Spanish levels one and two. Mrs. Smith feels her greatest accomplishment in teaching is bringing excitement to the classroom with a hands on, active approach to learning the language. Her hope is that every student will leave her class with an open mind for the rest of the world, a love for learning, and enough knowledge to jumpstart their journey of becoming a lifelong language learner.

Mrs. Smith attended Bowdon High School and played both softball and tennis. She earned her bachelor's degree in Foreign Language Education and in Spanish from the University of Georgia in Athens. She also sponsors the National Spanish Honor Society, an organization that further promotes the use of the language outside of the classroom. Erin enjoys going to UGA football games in the fall (Go Dawgs!) and traveling.

She is married to Lanny Smith, has a four year old son, Greyson, a two year old daughter, Emery Kate, and a dog, Rylee. She is both honored and humbled to be chosen as Central High School's Teacher of the Year.
